Lilli and I were married yesterday at City Hall. We've been talking about it forever and wearing her handmade rings for almost a month already.

The civil ceremony was just that; we took our vows in our home with only Mister Cat as witness, but this makes it official under the White Man's Law as well.

Standing as our witnesses were Moishe Hwang, Lilli's best friend from São Paulo, and

They were beaming, we were beaming, and everything just felt right in the world.

The rest of the photos by the four of us can be seen in this photoset.
And what feels different? The only thing I can feel, not 24hrs later, is the scope of us, the depth of us. I feel lucky and proud, and the girl who's so obviously intended for me feels the same things, the same way. She put up a Flickr set of her own last night (I pinched her photos for my "master" set in male-typical fashion) and she wrote the following to describe it:
"they say when lobsters find their perfect partner, they lock their claws (hold hands) forever.
that's the way i feel today, and my lobster's name is dan."
We walked around in Boerem Hill looking for a place for brunch, then everyone went to work... and I had comics to draw. Saying goodbye for the workday, I kissed my beautiful bride and started down the subway stairs to the 2/3. Walking next to me, a courier took off his headphones and said to me, "Yo, son... that girl will MARRY if you ask her."
I smiled and help up my shiny ring. "She just did." He put his arm around me and congratulated me and we swiped our Metrocards at the exact same time, everything beeping beeping in unison.

It really *does* feel like everything's changed, doesn't it?
June 2 2006, 02:45:38 UTC 5 years ago
I mean, we ate at the same veggie chinese just now and talked about the same weird things and nothing has really changed except for two words and the feeling that our future together goes on for a long, long time.

Re: Whoa!!
our digital photos are always blurry during intensely romantic moments (i.e. the rings photos). the two of us defnitely throw off alot of energy when the streams cross.thank you for sending us your sweetness; i wish you all the best with your impending second monkey.

Yo, son!
Wow, congrats! You even shaved!June 1 2006, 21:23:45 UTC 5 years ago
Re: Yo, son!
A funny story in that actually:Sleep-deprivation, caffeine-abuse, and tight deadlines have turned me into mustache-picker/plucker. Something I absently do during 15 hour stretches at the Powerbook while working working.
I got up the day before wedding at 6am as usual and get into the shower to realize I'd nervously/absently plucked the edges of my mustache (and a hunk out of right side) to utter patchiness, making me look like Adolf Hitler. I HAD to shave b/c I was not going to my wedding pics rocking a Hitler mustache (unfortunately, Chaplin gets no love in this country, which to me says everything abnout America in one cultural reference).
Have no fear: given my Slavic genes, the beard will be back in 36 hours.
